Having grown up in two locations—Plymouth, Minnesota and on Mackinac Island in Michigan, a place rich in family history—Emily Chambers brings a unique perspective to her new role in community marketing at PRIME. The newest member of the Media Sales Department, she has embraced her position as a Senior Marketing Consultant with energy and enthusiasm. Read on to find out more about Emily.
A unique childhood
Growing up, Emily spent nine months of the year living in and attending school in Plymouth. During the summer months, she lived on Mackinac Island, where her family has owned businesses in the Chambers name for nearly 200 years.
Life on the island is, according to Emily, “fifty years behind the real world.” During her time there, she and her family had no cell phone service, no internet, no air conditioning, and no TV. They had to visit an internet café to access the web.
“I think the island is where a lot of my creativity came from,” she said. “We would write and act out mini movies. We made our own perfume out of anything we could find, like ground-up flowers. On our front step, we had the classic lemonade stand, and we made bracelets and sold them on Market Street. We always came up with something to fill the time.”
Learning & growing
Emily attended Providence Academy in Plymouth and moved to Maple Grove after high school. She graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in business administration and marketing management and launched her career managing the retail customer experience for Athleta. She also worked on the Athleta visual team, at a lunch delivery startup, and in software sales.
Finding PRIME was a dream come true for Emily. She’s excited to connect with the local community and partner with businesses to help them succeed and grow. “I’m very relatable,” she said, “and I bring positive energy everywhere I go.”
Never a dull moment
Emily keeps in touch and spends time with friends from every stage of her life. She enjoys hanging out with her family as well; “There’s never a dull moment,” she said. She still works part time for Athleta for fun and has two dogs who are the loves her life.
An aficionado of grilled cheese sandwiches and naps (she takes one every day), Emily considers herself a homebody. She spends most of her time in Minnesota and Michigan. However, she enjoys traveling to warmer climates. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she’d choose somewhere with a beach, like Bora Bora or the Maldives.
Ready to help businesses grow
Emily’s enthusiasm for sales and client relationships, her passion, and an understanding of marketing and its effects make her an excellent fit to help business grow through opportunities within our publications, venues, and digital products.
