Maple Grove Days 2017 has officially begun! The Maple Grove Community Organization has been bringing friends, neighbors, and local businesses together for over 25 years. Prime Advertising & Design has been a proud Gold Sponsor of the celebration since 2003. With 15 years of Maple Grove Days under our belts, we have compiled a list of everything you need to know about Maple Grove Days 2017. In addition to our inside look, the complete list in the Official 2017 Events Guide. We don’t want you to miss a thing!
Medallion Hunt
Each year, before the official start of the week-long celebration, Maple Grove Days hosts a hunt for a 5×5-inch maple leaf-shaped medallion. This year the hunt started on June 5th. Mike Kinnan, of the Lookout Bar & Grill, started the Medallion Hunt in 2006. The Medallion is hidden in one of Maple Grove’s 40 city parks, and the lucky winner receives $500! The benefits go to the Maple Grove Ambassador Scholarship program. The hunt is fun for everyone and the weekly clue process keeps participants challenged and excited. The 2017 Medallion was found in Gleason Park on July 10.
Parade
What is a better sign of summer than a community parade on a summer night? The Maple Grove Days Parade is on Thursday, July 13th at 6:30pm. The parade route is located on 89th Avenue between Zachary Lane and Elm Creek Blvd. The street will be lined with families and friends as they watch marching bands, Maple Grove Ambassadors, Cub Scouts, and local businesses and many more smile and hand out goodies along the parade route. Watch for Prime Advertising, unit 20, as we always have wonderful candy and prizes. Check out the parade map pictured below.
Business Expo
Another exciting part of Maple Grove Days is the Business Expo. Prime Advertising will be booth #99 of over 130 booths at the Business Expo which is held at the Community Center on Saturday, July 15th from 10am to 4p. Admission is free to all attendees. You won’t want to miss these wonderful displays, browsing for business information, and receiving free samples!
Bed Races
This year is the 10th annual Rotary Bed Race! The bed races take place on Saturday, July 15th at 7:00pm on Main Street. Come ready to watch an exciting event that benefits CROSS Kids, which supports children in Maple Grove and the northwest suburbs. The racers are judged based on time, costume impressions and bed design. There will be various prizes awarded and fireworks to follow!
Classic Car Show
The Classic Car Show is back once again! The show takes place on Saturday, July 15th from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Main Street in front of Town Green, from Lakeview Drive to Arbor Lakes Parkway. Participate and show off your own classic vehicle or wander through the rows of customized cars and dream of owning one yourself! You can cast your spectator vote from 10:00am until 1:30pm and stay for the award presentation at 3:30pm.
New Events
If you don’t get your fix with all the annual events, games, tournaments, runs, kids’ events, midway attractions, and the copious amount of food, Maple Grove Days has added a few new items to the 2017 roster:
- Zumba Kids
- Thursday, July 13th from 10:00am-10:45am
- Location: Town Green, Upper Stage Lawn
- Dance and move to the music from around the world. No previous experience is necessary!
- Sun Salutations Yoga
- Saturday, July 15th from 8:30am to 9:30am
- Location: “Garden” of Central Park
- A guided outdoor yoga class experience in a relaxing, peaceful environment. This class is for adults who have some yoga experience or are new to the practice.
- Ninja Warrior Challenge
- Saturday, July 15th from 10am to 10pm
- Location: Maple Grove Community Center, Parking Lot
- Fee: $10 per experience
- Age: Ages 4 to adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Can you beat the Ninja Warrior obstacle course? Challenge your inner ninja with two different levels of excitement!
- Puzzle Challenge
- Saturday, July 15th starting at 12:00pm
- Location: Central Park inside Phenow Pavilion
- Fee: $25 per team
- Each team will be given a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle to put together. The first team to finish wins!
- Unfortunately, the Puzzle Challenge event is already full. Feel free to stop by and watch the challenge happen!

Proud to serve as this year’s Maple Grove Days Parade Grand Marshall, The Rotary Club of Maple Grove has been active in Maple Grove since 1990. The Rotary Club of Maple Grove organizes the Maple Grove Days Bed Races, the Maple Grove Rotary Music Plaza at Town Green and several other events. The Rotary Club holds strong ethical standards and is also involved beyond the local community and globally.
The Maple Grove Community Organization offers an opportunity for such as Maple Grove Days to come together and celebrate as a whole – businesses, church groups, local organizations, City departments, residents and more to learn and experience what makes our city so special!
